Indian PC users have a reason to cheer!!!! A report by renowned security software maker McAfee says that India offers more security than countries such as the U.S.A and Japan.
A global study across 24 nations was carried out and the data from an average of 27-28 million PCs having basic security (anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall) were analyzed per month. The results are as follows, starting from the nation with the highest security. First is Finland (90.3%), second being Italy (86.2%) and the third is Germany (85.55%). India stands at the 14th spot, China at 17, Japan and the U.S.A at 19 and Singapore at 22.
However, there is a fall side to this coin. About 17% of the computers either have no anti-virus installed or it has been disabled.
There is a list that shows the rankings of countries. This time, the leader is Spain and the runners-up are Japan and China respectively. India is not too behind even in this list. It holds the 8th position.
People who will be most affected by lack of proper security are the ones working online and online gamers. The next category of people, turn their PC security off because it would not allow all the contents from a particular site to run on their computer.
It is absolutely necessary to know the importance of security software. The study says that it is absolutely essential to protect your PC from viruses and other malware. Security software is the first and, most often than not, the only defense for a PC against cyber crime.
